Felzkowski Supports Sweeping Package to Improve Daily Life for Wisconsinites

Wisconsin Senate President Mary Felzkowski cast her vote this week in favor of a series of bipartisan-backed bills aimed at improving healthcare access, school safety, emergency services, and child protection across the state.

Among the legislative highlights was Senate Bill 41, which makes grant funding available to every school in Wisconsin to enhance safety infrastructure and provide additional staff training. The measure is intended to give schools equal opportunity to invest in critical upgrades that help protect students and staff.

Felzkowski also supported Senate Bill 152, which modernizes the Alzheimer’s Family and Caregiver Support Program by eliminating outdated income caps that previously limited access. The change is expected to open the door for more families to receive the support they need in caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s.

To address the shortage of emergency responders in rural and underserved areas, Senate Bill 182 was passed to provide reimbursement for students who complete EMS certification programs. Felzkowski noted that the bill removes a financial hurdle that may otherwise prevent qualified individuals from entering the field.

In a move to strengthen child protection efforts, Senate Bill 232 expands the state’s network of Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) by adding two new facilities. These centers play a vital role in supporting law enforcement by providing trained professionals who can interview children in safe, trauma-informed settings—especially in cases involving abuse or trafficking.

Healthcare access also took center stage with the passage of Senate Bill 258, which allows Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to practice to the full extent of their training. Felzkowski emphasized that this reform is a critical step toward easing Wisconsin’s growing provider shortage and expanding affordable care across communities.

“Today, we showcased the broad range of issues that Senate Republicans are tackling to make life better for our constituents,” Felzkowski said after the session. “From bolstering emergency response services and increasing funding for school safety, to protecting vulnerable children and increasing access to healthcare across the state, Senate Republicans took a slew of votes to support the day-to-day lives of our constituents.”

Felzkowski also criticized Senate Democrats for voting against the measures, accusing them of putting politics ahead of the needs of Wisconsinites. “It’s disappointing,” she added.
