Virginia’s Governor Youngkin Issues Statement on Conclusion of 2025 General Assembly Session

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin released a statement marking the conclusion of the 2025 General Assembly legislative session, expressing gratitude to lawmakers for their dedication and service.

“To the General Assembly members who dedicated their time and energy this legislative session, making the tremendous sacrifice of being away from their families, careers, and personal lives to serve the Commonwealth—thank you,” Youngkin said.

The governor specifically acknowledged Delegates Baxter Ennis and Danny Marshall for their service. As the session adjourns, Youngkin noted that he will spend the next 30 days reviewing the legislation passed, including the state budget.

“This General Assembly is sending me a multitude of bills, including a budget, and over the next 30 days I will go to work to review and take action on those bills and budget,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Youngkin emphasized the importance of the upcoming reconvene session, where lawmakers will address outstanding matters. “We will have much to address at the reconvene session, but I remain grateful for the hard work of our General Assembly members and their staffs,” he added.

The session’s adjournment, known as Sine Die, marks the end of the legislature’s regular business, with any pending matters set to be revisited when lawmakers reconvene.
